Riverside School opened in September 2012 with its first intake of 120 Year 7 students. For the first year the school will share accommodation in the superb new George Carey Primary School.
The school will move to its permanent site East of Renwick Road when the new Secondary school building is completed.
When it reaches full capacity the school numbers will rise to over 1,800 including a Sixth Form.
Riverside School is part of an ambitious programme to regenerate the Thames View and Riverside area, creating new homes, communities and jobs.
We promote high aspirations for students and staff and the new school motto is: Excellence For All.
The school is dedicated to serving the new and rapidly growing community on Barking Riverside and will act as a catalyst for living, learning and academic excellence in this area of Barking & Dagenham.
A consultation is currently underway regarding proposals for Barking Riverside Foundation Trust School to convert to Academy status and incorporate new provision – establishing Riverview Free School – following an application to the Department for Education to set up new secondary school provision on Barking Riverside.
